A little while ago, I broadcast a video on Chanel’s current line-up of extraits. So I thought it only fair to create a similar episode on Dior’s offering. Sadly, the brand sells nowhere near as many extrait-strength creations as it used to, but three are certainly better than none – J’Adore, Poison and Miss Dior, in case you’re wondering – plus we also managed to squeeze in Diorissimo, which was in the catalogue until very recently. Here’s a link to the video: Dior extrait reviews.

As I said in the broadcast, Dior frequently finds itself in the firing line of bitter criticism from those who object to the quality of its new releases and to the way it treats its scented heritage. However, it is heartening to see that the brand and Francois Demachy continue to devote some of their resources to these extraits, all three of which are well worth your time, especially the Poison and the Miss Dior. Their retro grandeur may be toned down, but it still takes some beating.

  1. I loved the original Diorissimo. My late, much loved aunt wore it, gave me a bottle with ‘leftovers’ in it on one of her visits when I was 17 – that was my introduction to ‘good perfume’ & I’ve never looked back!

      1. Thank you! Of course I wasn’t aware of it being ‘quite something’ (as you so nicely put it) at the time – it was more than 40 years ago, so no internet for research, just the local library, but I certainly became aware as I grew more interested in fragrance as ‘a thing’.
