It’s hard to believe, but almost twelve months ago to the day, I published a post saying that Madame Persolaise and I were busy packing for our summer holiday. Well, that’s exactly what we’re doing today.
Before we hit the road, I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for continuing to read my blog and to leave comments; your support is always appreciated. Unless I hunt down some Wifi (and drag myself away from the novels I’d like to read) there won’t be much activity here on Persolaise.com until about the end of August, except for the reviews which I’ve scheduled to pop up every Friday. These will cover several new releases, including a regal re-issue, a geometric trio and a series from which you could derive a sum total. This Tuesday should also see the appearance of a very special post which will hopefully turn out to be useful to many of you.
When normal service is resumed in September, I hope to return to my lab and my fragrant projects with renewed vigour. See you on the other side of the summer,
Persolaise.

Hava a great holiday Mr. P!
Have a lovely holiday and enjoy your books!
(that's exactly what I plan on doing a week from now) 🙂
Hope you have a wonderful break. Exactly what the doc ordered!
Though, more importantly, what perfume are you bringing with you????
Have a wonderful, justly deserved break, Persolaise, read all those novels and reconnect and realign your soul!
Thomas, thanks very much indeed. I hope you get some time off during the summer too.
Ines, thanks very much. And yes, I definitely plan to plunge into prose. It feels like it's been ages since I've permitted myself the time to get lost in a good book. First up: The Finkler Question.
Liam, thanks very much indeed… and thank you for asking the million dollar question!
I actually have no idea what I'm going to take, apart from one bottle: Leather Oud. That's a definite!
I'm also toying with the idea of Orange Star. Both quite heavy scents, really.
Tarleisio, "realign your soul"… I love that, thank you.
I hope you have a restful summer too.
You're welcome 😉
I for one love heavy fragrances in warm weather. A liberal application of course, and everything radiates 🙂
Liam, I rarely choose something light in the summer, except when I literally want a quick spritz of something for a pick-me-up. Having said that, I also enjoy those transparent-but-not-insubstantial Jean-Claude Ellena, Olivia Giacobetti-style offerings when the weather's warm: things like Declaration, Bois Farine, Passage d'Enfer…
They manage to do 'light' and clean without going for the citrus cliches.
Gosh, I haven't even heard of them! But I appreciate where you're coming from, fresh without going for citrus cliches must be fantastic to wear… trying to think if I have something similar myself stashed away!
Haven't you? Then you've got some treats in store.
Declaration will be available at most high street dept stores; it's by Cartier. And the other two are from L'Artisan… so perhaps when you move to this island, a trip to Covent Garden will be in order… and speaking of moving, you might find my Tuesday post particularly interesting 😉
I'm very much looking forward to it now 🙂 see this is why I'm hoping getting across the puddle will bring.
Looking forward to Tuesday now, you tease! lol
I mustn't hype it up too much, but hopefully it'll be useful.
Bon voyage! I fear we are all creatures of habit in terms of when we take our hols.
I am glad to have discovered your blog and look forward to being a regular reader and commenter!
My holiday scents are never light and breezy as that isn't my style. I am never without at least one of my old Guerlains, which always seem perfect for France, in particular.
A month of a vacation?!! I'm officially jealous 🙂 Next time you start complaining about the innovation of the Day Job I will feel less sympathetic.
Just kidding! I hope you'll enjoy your trip and come back with a lotof fresh ideas and energy to implement them.
Save travels and happy returns in a month! Fragrant greetings to you and Ms. Persolaise.
Fiordiligi, I'm glad you've discovered my blog too and I look forward to reading your comments.
And as for my holiday, yes, we always go away at the same time of the year, but then that's mostly because of our jobs.
Enjoy your vintage Guerlains!
Undina, I know, it's always at this time of year that I feel I mustn't complain too much about work. But the Invasion Of The Day Job is actually a very special case. I don't like to get into too many details here on the blog, but what makes it so demanding is that it's technically TWO jobs.
But enough of that: for the next few weeks I can forget about jobs of any sort and just recharge my batteries.
Andy, thanks very much indeed. And I hope August brings you at least a few opportunities for creative pursuits.
I hope you have a wonderful time renewing and restoring your soul. Look forward to your posts on your return.
Sharryn, thanks very much indeed. I hope to come back with lots of stories to tell.
