Support Persolaise on Ko-Fi, perfume critic, fragrance, beauty

This isn’t the sort of topic on which I feel comfortable dwelling, so I’ll do my best to keep today’s post brief.

In recent months, several readers and viewers have got in touch to ask if they can support my work. This may be because my YouTube and Facebook videos have been increasing in popularity. Or it may simply be a result of the growing use of ‘donation’ facilities on blogs and YouTube channels. Whatever the reason, I am extremely touched and flattered that anyone would consider taking the time to make such a generous gesture.

Regular readers will know that there has never been any advertising on Persolaise.com. The independence of my voice has always been of supreme importance to me and I’ve believed that ads would somehow dilute it. From its birth, I’ve used this site as a platform from which to express the full spectrum of my views – positive to negative – with zero influence from brands or other industry figures.

However, since the start of 2019, I’ve had to admit to myself that it is becoming more and more difficult – slowly but surely – to find the time and the means to maintain this blog and its social media ‘satellites’. Time is, of course, one of our most precious commodities, and as there are only so many hours in a day, decisions have to be made about how every moment is spent. Certain priorities necessarily override others. A few are left by the wayside.

That said, I love perfume as much as I ever have, if not more. I love writing about it. And I love interacting with people whose passion is as all-consuming and geeky as mine is. Fear not: I have no intention of closing this blog down any time soon. But I need to find ways of making it a more productive undertaking. So if there are some people out there who would like to support Persolaise.com – and contribute towards maintaining its independence – then I will gratefully accept their help.

I’ve created a page on a site called Ko-Fi which essentially allows you to ‘buy me a coffee’ if you enjoy my work. You’ll find a link at the end of each new post and on the side bar of each page on this site. All content on Persolaise.com and on my YouTube and Facebook channels will remain free to everyone. I have no plans to start posting ‘subscriber only’ material.

Any contributions will be received with sincere and heartfelt thanks. But I should also say I acknowledge that ‘support’ isn’t always financial. In the (almost) ten years that my perfume writing has been in existence, you have all supported me in a wide range of ways, from leaving comments, sending emails, popping samples in the post, clicking on hearts and ‘thumbs up’ and saying Hello at various events. I appreciate all these acts of kindness and I will continue to do so, for as long as I am fortunate enough to receive them.

Thanks very much indeed for reading this,

Persolaise
