There are only a couple of weeks to go before I take my annual break from perfume-writing activities (don’t worry: several posts will be scheduled to pop up throughout the summer) so I thought I’d start getting into holiday mode by hosting a give-away. On this occasion, I’m very pleased to be able to say that the prizes have been generously provided by Neela Vermeire Créations.

The first prize is an 8 ml ‘purse’ bottle of the brand new Mohur extrait together with a ceramic disc (which can be sprayed with any perfume and then used to scent drawers, a cupboard, a bag etc) and sample vials of the other scents in the brand’s range: Trayee, Bombay Bling and Ashoka.

The second prize is one of Neela Vermeire Créations’ new Discovery Sets, containing four 8 ml bottles of each of the brand’s scents.

Those of you not familiar with the new Mohur extrait may be interested to know that, as you’d expect from its increased concentration, it is a richer, heavier, more skin-hugging rendition of the edp’s jammy, spicy, milky rose. Unless I’m mistaken, this beautiful Bertrand Duchaufour composition – inspired by the era of the British Raj – is for sale only in a 50 ml bottle which retails at €340 (approx US $ 460 or UK £ 270)… so I daresay you won’t want to miss this opportunity to get your hands on 8 ml for free!

To enter the draw, please read the Terms & Conditions below and then leave a comment on absolutely anything that pops into your head about the subject of the summer or holidays. Please note that this draw is open only to readers based in the EU, the USA and Canada.

Many thanks to Neela Vermeire Créations for making this give-away possible.

Good luck to you all!

  1. Oh, wonderful! And your topic is great as well.

What first pops into my mind is the Adriatic sea and the beach, accompanied by the smell of sunscreen. Can't wait! 🙂 (I'm now in the mood for all of it)

  2. Thank you, Neela Vermeire Créations for her generosity in offering this drawing and to you, Persolaise, for hosting it! I hope you have a nice summer vacation!

  3. The thought of summer makes me want to escape to the mountains, for a bit of hiking and resting my eyes on Alpine lakes. The Alps are out of reach now, but there are other mountains….

  4. Hot summer days – I find those days the most difficult to choose which perfume to wear. Marc Jacobs and Issey Miyake usually win, but maybe I can change direction totally with Mohur!

  5. Neela Vermeire's perfumes are all just brilliant. Mohur edp is one of my most treasured bottles and I would love to have a bit of the extrait. The exquisitely fragrant gallica roses in my garden are just finishing blooming–an Apothecary Rose, a Rosa Mundi, and an unnamed pink one that grows almost wild at the edge of the field. These are the roses that Mohur summons in the midst of winter.

  6. Summer means visiting family and catching up on news. Summer here isn't always hot or sunny but I love the turf fire smoke and the sense of freedom and space. The Mock Orange is pumping out scent and the roses need constant dead-heading so all is well in this world:-)
Thanks for the opportunity, and happy holidays to all involved and all participants.
    cheerio, Anna (out of) Edinburgh!

  7. I have been longing to try this perfumes – they sound so fabulous! If I could get a holiday I would go to the sea and stay somewhere close to a lovely sandy beach where my dogs could run for miles and I could read books and bask in some sunshine. Sigh……………

  8. Wow! This is quite generous! Thank you Neela and Persolaise! 🙂

Summer and holidays….I haven't had a summer holiday/vacation since my honeymoon 8 years ago when we went to Bermuda. It was gorgeous there, slower, and loved the intermingling of American and British. We are hoping to go back for our 10 year wedding anniversary in 2 years. I hope you enjoy your time off, get to travel somewhere fabulous, and relax with Madame P. 🙂

  9. Hmmmm…. what pops into my mind is usually the song 'Summer Breeze' by the Isley Brothers. It conjures up a laid-back lazy summer feel, even if I'm stuck on the District Line at 90 degrees, with my nose in someone's armpit…;-)

  10. Thank you and Neela for this wonderful chance!Summer now is boredom. It used to be the most wonderful, magical time as a kid,but in my job, things are quiet during this season, and as a result I feel despondent and unenthusiastic.I hope winning g this draw will shakeaway the blues!Thank you again

  11. Summer of 76.. old enough to remember it. The tide never seemed to come in very far and out Dad & I used to have to walk for miles to reach the waves I so wanted to jump over like an aquatic skipping rope. And the donkeys that took me for rides long since gone but ever immortalised on postcards. #yesterdaywhenIwasyoung #Thosewerethedays

  12. I'm just planning a trip to India this summer! Very curious from a long time about Neela Vermeire's creations!
Thank you of the draw, have a great vacation, Persolaise!

  13. Thank you for the great opportunity, Persolaise! And huge 'Thank you!' to Neela Vermeire, too! I still haven't tried any of her fragrances – shame on me! But actually, they are not available near my location, and I didn't get the chance to find them over the last 2 years when I traveled around Europe.
I hope I am winning this time…fingers crossed!
Well, my summer this year is marked with the preparation of my Ph.D. thesis and its defence – I should be a 'doctor' by the end of July. And then a job search is awaiting…so I guess I am skipping the holiday! I miss the sea, I miss the mountains, I miss everything calm and natural, the stress is a monster! But my perfumes save me in times of despair. Like today – I dabbed some 'naturals' from En Voyage on both of my hands, from the wrist up to the shoulder!
Wishing you a happy relax when you get the chance!

  14. First thing that came to mind mind is : "Oh, Croatia cannot qualify for this draw since we are not in EU", but than I remembered we are. 🙂 Guess nothing changed so it is the same like year before. 🙂
I am currently on the holiday which will last 3 months so the Adriatic sea is all around me (literally, since I live on island) but whenever I think of a proper holiday I always imagine 3 things: boat, fishing and hubby preparing materials for fishing. 😀

Thanks for the opportunity and enjoy your holidays! 🙂

  15. Summer has finally arrived in northern Sweden, but I have almost two more weeks of work before my holiday, then I'm going to my home island of Gotland.
Thank you for this wonderful draw!

  16. Thank you Persolaise and Neela for such a wonderful giveaway!
Summer is always when I go to Southeast Asia for a trip… the humidity is almost unbearable but something about the sticky heat amplifies all scents in a pleasant way.

  17. Summer used to stretch on forever when I was a child, but now I blink and it's half over. I second Victorian on Bombay Bling! It's a perfect summer perfume.

  18. Thank you for the giveaway. I hope you have a great summer holiday.
I have no plans yet for the rest of summer. But I intend to enjoy as many weekends as possible being outdoors. It hasn't rained as much this summer, which I am very much liking so far.

  19. Great giveaway! Summer is the South of France – beach, hot days, bougainvillea, and lots of rosé.

  20. Thanks for the draw Persolaise. Summer holidays & scents: I smell many more things during the summer than in winter… windows are open more often, flowers are blooming, we walk out more… and when we try new perfumes they also bloom more due to the heat. I love that!

  21. Neela's creations are insanely good and trigger so many memories (grew up in India and now reside in Paris)..Holidays are nearing by and this humid summer debut has been all about the fig/leather Ashoka for the evening and lentisque gorgeousness that is Parfum D' Empire's Corsica Furiosa. Thank you Persolaise for this wonnderful draw!

  22. My favorite season; summer. Long hot summer nights, preferably with friends and a bottle of wine and talk, talk the night away. Sadly, nothing but rain these days but I am sure fine evenings will come eventually.
    Thank you for the giveaway.

  23. When I think of summer I think of the heavy scent of lilies and honeysuckle wafting across my yard, of picking fresh herbs and vegetables for a meal, and of playing in the water with my kids. It also means I get to bring out my favorite white floral perfumes that bloom so gloriously in the heat. It is the best time of year. Thanks for the fabulous draw!

  24. Thanks to all for this– I love Mohur, and the extract's just out of this world! Summer here has been all hummingbirds, roses and trying to lure bees into my garden. Have a great vacation!

  25. Summer means that my lighter, green scents come out to play. Ninfeo Mio, GS03 and Slumber house Pear and Olive are in top rotation… Although I am curious to try Trayee on a hot, humid day. Would love so much to try Mohur Extrait. Thanks for the opportunity to win it!!!

  26. Oh what a gorgeous giveaway. I'm spending the summer in Singapore, where I'm pretty much doing nothing but spending time with friends and family, reading and writing. But I will be going over to the US next month, and I'm looking forward to that! Thank you Neela for your lovely creations and generosity, and Persolaise for hosting the draw.

  27. Living in Denmark, summer is a special time of the year. In summer the Danes transform from a gray grumpy bunch into some of the most beautiful and accommodating people in the world. If any of you ever have a chance to visit Denmark, please do so in the summer. Green trees, yellow fields, beautiful blond women in summer dresses and a feeling that all is well in the world.
I so adore this time of the year, especially the bright summer nights where the sun sets after 11, and it never really gets dark. Spending time with friends, having coffee at 10pm, looking over the ocean and just marveling at the sheer beauty of nature. Summer love Caspar

  28. Summer holidays remind me of Glasgow where (contrary to its reputation) the sun shines with almost drinkable intensity: the light, silver and gold, fizzes like mineral water or pours like Sauternes @perdutagente

  29. thanks you so much for the draw..i have been following Neela's perfume adventures for quite a while..when i think of summer, i think of beautiful women with flowy dresses and hats and men with citrusy scent and white cotton shirts over white pants….summer to me is light whether its sunlight or anything else light such as dresses, perfumes, and spirits

  30. Summer memories are for me always centered around water, whether it's a swimming pool or the Pacific Ocean. My family would joke I was part fish. My mother wore cristalle and it's become a favorite for me as well

  31. I adore summer and everything related to it: sun, beach, carefree days, light dresses, the scent of jasmine brought by light breeze on warm evenings… Unfortunately here (Italy) we are having a very strange summer so far, let's hope it will get better soon.
What a great giveaway, I am really curious to try Neila Vermeeire Creations, they look utterly precious. Thanks for the chance.

  32. Aaaaah imagine if the world only had one season and that was Summer equals(=) Jade never talking about bad weather and happy for as long as she lives. 😀

  33. OK, I want a shot at this lovely prize too! I'm going to Seattle for work tomorrow and pretending it's a vacation. 🙂

  34. Thank you, Persolaise, and merci beaucoup to Neela Vermeire for the exciting and generous offer.

How about cicadas? They're probably not anyone's favorite thing, but their buzzing is the sound of summer for me. The little brown exoskeletons are all over and they are defoliating my shade trees, but I'll still be wistful when their song is replaced by crickets — a sure sign that fall is on the way.

  35. First thoughts of summer for me are of my garden – colours enhanced by long hours of daylight, the smells of flowers and cut grass and the chatter of my children playing in the sunshine.
Thank you for opportunity to take part in this generous offer. Have a great holiday! C.

  36. Im on My way to the airport for the second time today, since I ws deranged enough to neglect that My passport expired 2 weeks ago.. Had to let My husband and kids leave before me , with everybody crying, truly awful day! But at least I Will transfer in copenhagen, where they carry the chanel exclusifs line, that is not to be found in My country, Sweden. My love for perfume is truly the only positive thing today! My 4,5 Hr trip Will now be 15 hrs.. So there Will be plenty time tobevaluate them all :/

  37. This opportunity is too good to miss. Thank you!
Summer. it is different all the times. Like this summer for me smells more like oranges (Arquiste, Bigarade concentree, Eau Tarocco) and minth (Herba Fresca, Menthe Fraiche). And for the sultry evenings – Ombre Indigo 😉

  38. Wow, thats great giveaway! I ve already read some reviews of Neela s creations – it would be great to have Mohur extrait at home.:-) I want to go to Egypt or to Greece this summer to have a rest and enjoy warm see and air. I hope my dream will come true. Thanks. Lubka, EU

  39. Summer is lovely. Yesterday i had a day out in the mountains at a couple of wineries and today the plan is to hit the beach.
I'm rather interested in the extrait to see how it compares to the edp,
    ty

  40. Summer… fruit picking, starting with strawberries, gooseberries, currants, wild plums, then comes the glorious free-for-all, the blackberries. Lazy days making sauces and fools and jams from them.

  41. Great giveaway! I am looking forward to a short weekend trip to a little lakeside cabin that we visit in Wisconsin every summer (an easy drive from Chicago). That's less than a week away!

  42. I rarely take a holiday abroad at this time of year as summer in England is so lovely. Wimbledon, lush lawns, dappled shade of the trees, long long evenings light until 11pm, strawberries and cherries in season and don't forget the gin ant tonic.
    Aromatica x
