Just in case you haven’t already seen the news on Basenotes, I thought I’d upload a brief post to let you know that yesterday’s winners of the Jasmine Award for Best Website Feature On Fragrance were Avril Groom for The Packaging Is Plain, The Perfume Anything But and Yanar Alkayat for What’s Your Perfume Personality. Congratulations to both of them. The judges decided to split the award between two people in order to reflect the variety of perfume-based writing currently appearing on the Net. They also announced that the criteria for the web category will be updated next year.

So… no prize for Persolaise this time, but never mind. The ceremony was great fun and provided opportunities for a few chats with some interesting people.

I’d like to thank each and every one of you who took the time to wish me luck by tweeting, leaving a comment or sending an email. At one point I was quite overwhelmed by all the touching words of encouragement pouring in! Your support means a great deal to me.

And now… life and blogging return to normal. We’ve still got a bathroom to sort out!

Persolaise.

  1. "You like me, you really, really like me!"

Just goes to show you how nice it is to be recognised for adding to the discourse 🙂

    Next year 😉

  2. Liam J, oh dear, was I bit too Sally Field? But I was genuinely touched by all the support.

I'm just pleased that the UK's even got an award to recognise perfume writing. Being shortlisted was a bonus!

  3. Commiserations, P! I thought I would have a look at Avril Groom's piece but got fed up with the long flash intro on the FT site, and abandoned the attempt.

Did you gather that the web category might be extended to blogs in due course, or are they keeping their cards close to their chest? : – )

  4. Vanessa, thanks very much.

Did the flash intro really take that long to load for you? You might find the article an interesting read, if only to see what the judges were looking for.

As for the eligibility of blogs next year, no, absolutely nothing was said.

I love hearing from my readers, so please feel free to write a comment or ask a question.
