I said it on the video, so I’ll say it here as well. You make my vita molto, molto dolce. So when the time came to broadcast my 400th episode of Love At First Scent (no, I can’t believe it either), I knew I had to do something I’d been meaning to do for a while: discuss the overlooked Dior Dolce Vita. Here’s a link to the video: Christian Dior Dolce Vita review.
There are several reasons for Dolce Vita’s failure to capture the imagination of shoppers when it was first released, some more understandable than others. However, nearly 30 years on, in its current incarnation, it displays a sparkle and joie de vivre lacking in most mainstream releases, to the extent that I’d strongly suggest it deserves a reappraisal. Not only is its opening charming – that delicious, eyelash-fluttering combo of apricot and cinnamon – but, shock horror, it actually manages to remain delightful all the way through to the drydown, with its well-judged sweep of vanilla and sandalwood. Effortless cafe chic.
Finally, a few lines of thanks for your continuing and much-appreciated support, both here and on the YouTube channel. I genuinely don’t know quite how I’ve managed to notch up 400 episodes, but I do know that it’s at least partly because of all of you: the sweetest audience I could ask for.
