As a sort of follow-up to the previous post, this is a mention of a recent episode of Love At First Scent in which I talked about Guerlain‘s L’Art Et La Matiere reissue, and focussed on one of the new releases — Rose Cherie, by Delphine Jelk. Here’s a link: Guerlain Rose Cherie review.
Pink, fluffy icing-sugared roses may be plentiful in perfumery, but if we must have one more, we could do a great deal worse than Rose Cherie. Here, the juvenile sweetness is placed next to a well-handled bitter almond note that stops proceedings from descending into adolescent silliness. The contrast serves as a welcome reminder that if a cherie is to be truly memorable, it must conceal at least one thorn.
