Will wearing Louis Vuitton‘s latest scent improve my chances of finding myself on a beach this summer? Or is it yet another example of olfactory wishful thinking? You can make up your own minds by watching my review of On The Beach in a recent episode of Love At First Scent. Here’s a link: Louis Vuitton On The Beach review.

A brand with as many resources at its disposal as LV should have come up with something more convincing. To be sure, the citrus opening – so acidic, you can’t help but suck your cheeks – works extremely well. But as proceedings move towards the saline-orange-blossom middle section, a disappointing thinness emerges. Precisely the sort of thinness that never appears in the likes of Frederic Malle Cologne Bigarade, Odin 02, Marie Jeanne Marcelle, Hermes Eau De Mandarine Ambree or Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune. Still, those who shell out for Neroli Portofino may be tempted by this release.
