Serge Lutens Feminite Du Bois review by award-winning perfume critic Persolaise

Of the small number of scents that manage to smell both approachable and dangerous, Feminite Du Bois is perhaps the most irresistible

I was delighted to be asked to contribute to a blog post recently published by Escentual on the subject of niche scents. The scent I chose to write about was Serge Lutens Feminite Du Bois – the modern classic originally put together by Pierre Bourdon and Christopher Sheldrake – and yes, I realise that it’s dubious ascribing the ‘niche’ label to a brand whose parent company is Shiseido, but there we are. Right now ‘niche’ is, at best, a deeply problematic term, so for the purposes of this article, I just went with the retailer’s definition of what they consider to be niche in their catalogue. If you’d like to read the post, which also includes thoughts on Amouage Gold Woman, Juliette Has A Gun Oil Fiction and Parfums De Marly Delina, please click on this link: Serge Lutens Feminite Du Bois review on Escentual.

  1. Feminite du Bois is surely in my top five perfumes, although I’m slightly disappointed with the latest formulation. It’s rather sharp and screetchy as if the lovely boozy plums are pushed far away to the background.

  2. I’d be happy to share my last few drops of the original with you, the problem is: we’re not allowed to send liquids per post out of the country. I have a girlfriend who travels twice a year to the UK so perhaps I could give her the sample vial to forward it to you. I cannot tell when this will be but if you want to share your address, let me know on modestyblaise65 at yahoo dot com.

    1. Yes, we’re not allowed to post perfume outside the UK either.

Thank you so much for the generous offer! Perhaps we can talk about it the next time your friend makes the trip.

I love hearing from my readers, so please feel free to write a comment or ask a question.
