As we’re approaching the Easter weekend – a time when I hope we’ll all be able to slow down and rest – I thought I’d indulge in a post that’s relatively light on text. So here are this year’s FiFi UK nominees for Best New Female Commercial and Best New Male Commercial. Ladies first…

As far as I’m concerned, the winner here is absolutely clear: it has to be the Guerlain. The brand’s campaign for La Petite Robe Noire is the most re-watchable I’ve come across for years. The ironic tone of the Dolce & Gabbana is quite charming too… and I guess Lady Gaga’s David Lynch approach is not without its merits. But surely, they can’t beat the little black dress.
Here come the boys…

As expected, this category isn’t exactly awash with originality. I find the imagery in the Hermès compelling, but I don’t think it expresses the essence of the fragrance very well. Mind you, this may not be a factor the judges take into consideration. I’d pick Kokorico as my favourite: it’s funny, punchy and unpretentious.
The winners will be announced at the ceremony on 16th May.
A very happy Easter to one and all. Enjoy the sweeties and, most importantly, take some time out to unwind and relax.

  1. I second your choice of Le Petite Robe Noire – it's the only one without brooding, angsty models pouting at the camera!

Suffice to say the rest left me extremely bored 😀

  2. I'm so glad you love La Petite Robe Noire too. Though I love the rest it is the most joyful and exuberant for me. All the versions of it are exactly fabulous and cheeky enough to make me want to watch them repeatedly.
