Estee Lauder Glimmer review by award-winning perfume critic Persolaise, 2026

–

In recent years, the situation at Estee Lauder has been rather opaque. Official sales information tends to be difficult to come by, but according to the more trusted sources out there, and contrary to the received wisdom, the company’s fragrance division has enjoyed a certain amount of success. However, it would seem this is largely thanks to its high-end, non-EL labels, with Jo Malone London and Le Labo reportedly doing particularly well. Its eponymous brand — the one that gave us classics such as Youth Dew and Beautiful — has been less fortunate, with dwindling sales and an increasingly dated image. In addition, EL no longer holds the scent-making licence for brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY and Zegna, which, not too long ago, were an important part of its portfolio. The company hasn’t released a mainstream, standalone scent under the EL name for over a decade, instead churning out flankers of Bronze Goddess and Beautiful Magnolia, as well as venturing into the ‘exclusive’ sector with the poorly-marketed and short-lived Luxury Fragrance Collection and the superb, but for some reason still relatively-unknown Legacy range. Into this uncertain atmosphere comes Glimmer — a brand new ‘signature’ scent.
