As I type these words, the summer solstice is just a few hours away, which means it’s the perfect time to present my latest seasonal list: Top 10 perfumes for summer 2024. Regular readers will know that my selection of scents is usually bound by a loose theme and on this occasion – partly inspired by all the sporting events that are dominating the calendar for the next few weeks – I decided to focus on the concept of energy, in all its varied forms. Each of the perfumes in the rundown is ‘energising’ in some way, whether it be by capturing the hurried pace of modern, urban life, the tempestuous power of the elements clashing with a rocky island, or the bracing vitality of a pre-dawn walk.
