What a delight it is to discover an exciting new fragrance house. A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of making just such a find when I tried a few scents from Puente, the Spanish brand founded by Eliam Puente (who will hopefully be one of my interview subjects at some point in the next few weeks). I reviewed some of his work in a recent episode of Love At First Scent, which you can find at this link: Puente showcase review.
If you haven’t got the time to watch the whole video, here’s its main message: order a Puente discovery set as soon as you can! And make sure it includes a vial of Medusa (a jasmine that manages to be seductive and demonic in equal measure), Vespertine (one of the most generously-spirited, creamy-buttery tuberose compositions I’ve enjoyed for a long time) and the sublime Iris Doux, whose romantic iris heart calls to mind the spirit of your favourite old Guerlains without succumbing to retro cliches. On the strength of these three, all future releases will have to be tried.
