Looks like it’s all change at Camp Le Gemme. From what I can gather, several of the scents from Bulgari’s high-end range have been discontinued (including my beloved Falkar?), and the remaining ones have been housed in slightly less ostentatious packaging. I suppose this is at least partly to make room for the new-ish Allegria collection, on which I hope to bring you more info soon. To mark the transition, the brand have launched a new scent, Orom, composed by Sophie Labbe, which I reviewed over on Love At First Scent a little while ago. Here’s a link: Bulgari Le Gemme Orom review.

The wheel is most certainly not being reinvented with Orom, which suggests that the re-launch is an attempt to align Le Gemme as a somewhat more crowd-pleasing member of Bulgari’s overall portfolio. It’s extremely well done – a darker-than-usual vanilla blended with smoky resins and a few coils of oud – but it isn’t especially memorable. A bit like a dinner companion whose company you find charming and witty right up to the last spoonful of dessert… before realising that you’ve forgotten their name moments after saying goodbye to them.
