Perfume books are few and far between, but perfume books that aim to expose some of the industry’s more questionable tactics and practices are almost unheard of. That’s why the hype around Gabe Oppenheim’s The Ghost Perfumer was probably inevitable. In broad terms, the book delves into the professional relationship between Pierre Bourdon and Creed — a relationship that could, according to the book, be viewed as unfair or unbalanced, on the grounds that the latter did not sufficiently remunerate the former for composing some tremendously successful perfumes. Full of fascinating, tantalising insights into what remains a relatively secretive world, it’s a tome that is attracting considerable attention amongst scenthusiasts. So I was very pleased to be able to host its author in my virtual studio the other day, for an hour-long interview. To find out why Oppenheim wrote the book, how it’s been received and what his views are on some other high-profile brands, please click on this link: Gabe Oppenheim, The Ghost Perfumer author, live interview.

Josh, NOT Joan. Blasted autocorrect!
Don’t worry — autocorrect has had its merry way with us all.
Thanks for taking the time to write. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
