Veronique Gabai Le Point G Review – Frank Voelkl; 2021

Another day, another punning perfume name. But at least the scent in question is more than just a cheeky moniker. Over on YouTube the other day, I reviewed Veronique Gabai Le Point G, the latest from a brand whose wares I haven’t yet explored a great deal in my writing. Perhaps retro-focussed scents are always going to be an easy sell for the likes of us who read perfume blogs. But I think Le Point G – with its vintage-loving blend of iris, rose, violet and leather – has attributes to offer beyond pleasurable nods to the past. Indeed, it is the way in which it reinterprets bygone aesthetics for the 21st century – perhaps through the use of dry cedar notes? – that makes it worth seeking out, even if the final stages of its drydown don’t quite deliver on the promise of the opening acts.
