You never need an excuse to revisit a Sophia Grojsman classic. For episode 158 of Love At First Scent, in an effort to dispel the winter gloom, I talked about Estee Lauder White Linen, Grojsman’s aldehydic-floral masterpiece from 1978. Here’s a link: Estée Lauder White Linen review.

Isn’t it a delight to smell something truly wondrous, recalibrate your nose and be reminded of the greatness that perfumery can achieve? It’s difficult to add anything new to the superlatives that have already been lavished on this important and influential piece of work. But I suppose one thing that struck me during a recent encounter with White Linen – more so than it ever has in the past – was that it somehow manages to be both white and filled with colour: wearing it feels very much like gazing at a multi-hued fabric through a beam of white light. Fascinating and dazzling.
