Perhaps unexpectedly, episode 128 of Love At First Scent saw me singing the praises of Versace Dylan Blue Pour Femme, the 2018 Calice Becker release that’s now being pushed with a new advertising campaign, I believe. Here’s a link to the broadcast: Versace Dylan Blue Pour Femme review.

While I’m not normally impressed by scent releases from this most bling-bonkers of brands, I found it an interesting and compelling expression of Calice Becker’s style. As she displayed in Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise and (the original!) Dior J’Adore, she has the most remarkable ability to ‘illuminate’ the olfactory materials with which she works and to imbue them with an inner glow. Or maybe not so much a glow, but an inner laser-beam factory! That talent is what makes Dylan Blue Pour Femme worthy of note. Not only is the central idea (green apple over floral-musky base) extremely well executed, but it also seems to dispel any gloom and darkness around it. Don’t get me wrong: this is no earth-shattering masterpiece. But it’s well worth seeking out as an example of ‘delivering’ this sort of fragrance with style.

  1. I love this scent. The bottle and scent are both reminiscent of the 90s Byblos that also came in a deep blue bottle and was a beautiful floral as well.
