When she’s asked if she ever thinks about the fact that her work effectively forms people’s future memories, she looks into the distance, smiles and says, ‘I see myself as a very small part of that.’

Here’s some news for you. In light of the current situation around the world, The Perfume Society have decided to offer the latest issue of their award-winning magazine, The Scented Letter, free to everybody. And it just so happens to contain an interview with Catherine Mitchell written by yours truly.

For those of you who haven’t heard of her, Mitchell is a Senior Account Manager at one of the UK branches of IFF. A highly-respected industry figure, she’s worked on a massive list of successful products from Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Liz Earle and many others. She was also behind a certain body spray called Lynx Africa… In the interview, she explains the way she entered the industry and shares details about her role.

My article aside, I’d urge you to take a look at the issue, as I think it represents something of a first. It is entirely devoted to profiles of people who fulfill some kind of function in the fragrance world, from retailers, to photographers, brand founders and beyond.
