Just a link from me today, to a Basenotes article which touches on the issue of body diversity in the fashion world. Although the tone of the piece aims to be light, the subject underlying it is anything but, so please do take a moment to read it and Google more about the topic, if you feel so inclined. And if you’ve never seen the Dove video below about the way media images are manipulated, click on play on right now.

I hope 2012 is treating you well so far,

Persolaise.

7 thought on “Size Zero Perfume”
  1. Can't thank you enough for posting this video! I am going to make sure my nieces see it.

I found your article on body types and fragrance very interesting. I know that I do wear perfume to give myself a bit more confidence (as an apple-shaped woman).

  2. Thank you so much for posting that video – and the link to the Basenotes article, too! The way media has manipulated even the genetically flawless, ie. models ' to where they have to be "enhanced" too is nothing short of sickening – and fashion is obviously – for all their lip service to "diversity" – NOT listening.
It is a simple but often overlooked fact that whatever makes you feel beautiful will often make you act accordingly – such is the power of the human mind. Hence, we have…perfume, that cares nothing for how we're shaped, but often makes us feel… beautiful.
I've never experienced 'Portrait of a Lady', your suggestion for those who are broad above and narrow below (that would be me), but I proffer another cleavage-enhancing masterpiece: Francis Kurkdjian's "L'Absolue pour le Soir", which has a very similar effect! 😉
We're all so different…and that makes me so happy!

  3. Great post on Basenotes! I linked to it on Twitter. And Sheila, your comment was almost a post in itself! I agree 100% – there is beauty in every shape and size. Preach!

  4. Queen Cupcake, at the end of the day, I don't think it really matters what we look like as long as we head into the world with a spring in our step.

  5. Tarleisio, thanks for taking the time to write. As you suggest, I think the most important, most lasting type of beauty is that which reaches further than the skin-deep variety.

And as for Portrait… you've got a treat in store!!!

  6. Perfumes are the one who brings a lot of happiness in your life through its fragrance. Each perfume has different flavors and made from different manufacturing process.. I always in search of getting the new flavors of Cheap Branded Perfumes and keep researching on them that what are the constituents which are making them the best…

I love hearing from my readers, so please feel free to write a comment or ask a question.
