The world of perfume retail is almost as mysterious as that of perfume production, full of rumours and closely guarded secrets. So I was delighted to host two very special members of the former community in my YouTube studio the other day: Josh Carter and Samuel Gearing, founders of Fiole, an online store that also features a well-regarded perfume-matching service. During our chat, we discussed the logic behind their Fiole Fragrance Finder, their experiences of working on various shop floors and their thoughts on how customers’ tastes have changed in recent years.
