Guerlain are still fiddling around with the Aqua Allegoria collection. A few years ago they relaunched the range and positioned it as the sustainable, eco-friendly segment of their catalogue. They then branched out into Forte versions and limited edition ‘Harvest’ releases of some of the scents. And now they appear to be presenting it as a ‘wellness’ product. Thankfully, their latest addition, Rosa Verde, stands up well on its own, without marketing trickery. I reviewed it in my latest set of Love At First Scent episodes, in which I also provided a showcase of the Australian brand, Mihan Aromatics. Here are links to both videos: Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Rosa Verde review — Mihan Aromatics showcase review.

Sinful Rose 28:38
Despite the blurbs on their website, I would say some of the offerings from Mihan Aromatics are worth checking out. Both Sienna Brume and Kirra Curl present unusual takes on the marine/aquatic genre (always a tricky one to tackle) and Petrichor Plains conveys a compelling sense of outdoorsy adventurousness, even if it does veer rather close to Santal Blush and Santal 33.
Rosa Verde is what all Aqua Allegoria scents should be: joyful, legible and uncomplicated. The cucumber and pear accord links seamlessly to the green rose, which then slots into the well-dosed musks… and that’s that! It all works a treat. A happy cross between Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Toit and the scent of the original Nivea hand cream (which some claim was composed by Guerlain), it a smile with absolutely no hint of cynicism. These days, many AAs are discontinued almost as soon as they appear. I hope this one sticks around.
