Just a few days ago, Amouage released a new collection of scents they’re calling the Essences, comprising Reasons by Bertrand Duchaufour, Lustre by Julien Rasquinet and Paul Guerlain, and Outlands by Cecile Zarokian. To tell us about the range’s creation and how it’s linked to a time-consuming infusion process — the alcohol used to dilute the perfume concentrates is aged and infused in oakwood barrels, while the concentrates themselves are infused with sandalwood chips — the brand’s Chief Creative Officer, Renaud Salmon, popped into my virtual YouTube studio. In our discussion, we tried to cover every aspect of the Essences, from bottles to visuals to the perfumes themselves, but we made time to talk about some wider, Amouage-related issues as well. Here’s a link to the video: Renaud Salmon, Amouage Essences live interview.

I should also mention that this was the 500th episode of Love At First Scent! Episode 1 was a live-stream on Facebook (how many of you still remember those?) and it was broadcast on the 28th of April 2017. Yes, you read that right: over 7 years ago! Perhaps it’s best not to dwell for too long on the passage of time, but I can’t let this milestone go past without thanking all of you for helping my little YouTube channel get this far. Your support means more to me than you will ever know. You are, without doubt, the best readers and viewers anyone could ask for. Thank you!
