Convincing woody-saffron scents aren’t exactly ubiquitous, so I was curious to see what Lilanur did with the idea in their latest release, Zafran Boise, composed by Honorine Blanc. Here’s a link to my YouTube review: Lilanur Zafran Boise review.

There’s undeniably a dash of elegance running through this piece of work, doubtless thanks to the quality of the dry, cedar-y wood note. However, as a whole, Zafran Boise is far too fleeting and restrained to be truly memorable, and would have benefited from at least a hint of the devil that you’d like to think is concealed beneath the immaculately-cut suit. For a satisfying saffron hit, I shall continue to turn to Etat Libre D’Orange Tom Of Finland and Parle Moi De Parfum Saffron Wood. And I will also keep lamenting the loss of the idiosyncratic L’Artisan Parfumeur Safran Troublant.
