As my YouTube channel is going to enjoy some much-needed hibernation for most of November (mainly to make time for the non-perfume-related work to which I always need to devote my attention at this point in the year) I’ve decided to go out with a bang: no fewer than three live interviews have been scheduled for this week. The first took place yesterday and was with Barbara Herman, author of Scent & Subversion and founder of the brand Eris, all of whose scents have been composed by Antoine Lie. To watch the episode and read the live chat as it happened, please click on this link: Eris Parfums Barbara Herman interview.

We managed to squeeze quite a few subjects into our hour-long chat, including Herman’s struggle to open a much-prized bottle of Jicky extrait, her thoughts on some classic fragrances of yesteryear and her views on whether wearing perfume can be a subversive act. Of course, we made time for some sniffing too, paying particular attention to her brand new Green Spell, a truly superb essay on all things green.

Please tune in to YouTube today at 5 pm UK time for the next interview, with Academy Award-nominated actor Richard E Grant, founder of Jack Perfume.
