Wow, yet another victory for Liz Earle! Fragrance Foundation UK have released the shortlists for the People’s Choice FiFi Awards (as voted for by visitors to Boots.com) and last year’s rich floral finds itself singled out for recognition once again. Here are the complete shortlists (links are to my own reviews):

People’s Choice Award For Women
Boss Nuit Pour Femme – Hugo Boss
Burberry Body edt – Burberry
Premiere – Gucci
Jimmy Choo edt – Jimmy Choo
La Vie Est Belle edp – Lancome
People’s Choice Award For Men
Code Ultimate – Giorgio Armani
James Bond 007
Only The Brave Tattoo – Diesel
Spicebomb – Viktor & Rolf
The One Sport – Dolce & Gabbana

My excitement about the inclusion of the Liz Earle notwithstanding, both lists are pretty depressing. Rather than being a showcase of excellence, they seem like some kind of unimaginative ‘copy cat’ parade. Boss Nuit Pour Femme, Burberry Body, La Vie Est Belle, Code Ultimate, Only The Brave… these are all mind-numbing, generic products, almost entirely devoid of any spark of life. And as for the James Bond scent… well, the less said about that the better. Never mind, I shall console myself with the inclusion of the Liz Earle. And the Issey Miyake and the Viktor & Rolf aren’t at all bad either.

The winners will be announced at the ceremony on 16th May.

Persolaise.
