Episode 2 of what is turning out to be a well-received series of Masterclass videos aired on my YouTube channel the other day, this time focussing on patchouli and orange oil. Guiding us through the stories of these two important raw materials was, once again, Remi Pulverail of the Atelier Francais Des Matieres and Les Indemodables. As before, we managed to cram quite a bit into the hour: the complex supply chain that brings patchouli from farms to perfume bottles; the ethical issues around the treatment of Indonesian farmers; and the key differences between Italian citrus oils and those from other parts of the world. Here’s a link to the video: perfume Masterclass – ingredients – patchouli and orange. Stay tuned to my social media for details of when the next episode will be broadcast.
