As regular readers will be all too aware, every now and then, I give in to my silly side and broadcast a video that could generously be described as ‘light-hearted’. This is what happened the other day when I presented my Top 10 (+2) list of perfumes inspired by the super-powers of the X-Men, who are currently enjoying a revival, thanks to the new X-Men ’97 animated series. Here’s a link to the video, followed by a list of all the scents covered: Top 10 perfumes for the super-powers of the X-Men. Oh, and I should warn you: the start of the episode might come as something of a shock.

Nightcrawler – L’Artisan Parfumeur Passage D’Enfer (Olivia Giacobetti) 5:29
Storm – Goutal Sables (Annick Goutal) 11:40
Jubilee – Parfum D’Empire Aziyade (Marc-Antoine Corticchiato) 15:40
Gambit – Guerlain Neroli Plein Sud (Delphine Jelk) 20:48
Morph – Rendez-Vous! (Antoine Lie) 25:34
Magneto – Etat Libre D’Orange Une Amourette (Daniela Andrier) 32:00
Professor X – Neela Vermeire Creations Ashoka (Bertrand Duchaufour) 36:41
Beast – Chanel Le Lion (Olivier Polge) 39:07
Rogue – Christian Dior Poison (Edouard Flechier & Jean Guichard) 42:58
Jean Grey – Editions De Parfums Frederic Malle The Night (Dominique Ropion) 47:37
Wolverine – Hermes Eau D’Hermes (Edmond Roudnitska) 51:44
Cyclops – Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede (Quentin Bisch) 55:05

Levity aside, the task of matching a perfume to a super-power (such as being able to control the weather or to teleport) turned out to be far more interesting than I’d anticipated, and it’s certainly an approach I’d consider if I ever found myself in the role of creative director. That said, the point of the broadcast was to have a bit of fun, so I hope you enjoy watching it.
