It’s hard to believe that Mugler‘s sugar-coated Angel has been in our midst for 30 years. I suspect that, back in the early 1990s, few people at the brand suspected that, three decades later, it would be one of the most ubiquitous scents in the air. And yet, here it still is, with all its countless flankers and bottle designs, as divisive, distinctive and daring as ever. There’s no way I could let 2022 go by without marking its anniversary in some way, and so, for this year’s penultimate episode of Love At First Scent, I turned my attention to the original edp (composed by Olivier Cresp and Yves De Chiris) as well as 2012’s ‘leather’ variant. Here’s a link to the video: Thierry Mugler Angel 30th anniversary review. And this is a link to a 2014 interview I conducted with Cresp in which he talked about working on what would turn out to be one of the highlights of his career.
