The research Oppenheim has carried out into his subject would appear to be exhaustive. But in the absence of other similarly myth-busting pieces of work (one wonders if this is the first of more to come in an industry that is ripe for a few reality checks) it is impossible to verify or counter his claims. Certainly, they come across as more than plausible.

Many of you will remember that a few weeks ago I broadcast a live interview with Gabe Oppenheim, author of The Ghost Perfumer. My review of his book has just been published on Basenotes, so if you’d like to read it, please click on this link: The Ghost Perfumer by Gabe Oppenheim book review. And if you’d like to watch the interview, here’s a link: Gabe Oppenheim live interview by Persolaise.
