Never let it be said that I ignore the mainstream. For my latest episode of Love At First Scent, I delved into as conventional a release as you could possibly get, with a review of the new edp of Versace Eros, composed by Olivier Pescheux. Here’s a link to the video: Versace Eros edp review. And this is a link to my original review of the edt from 2013: Versace Eros edt review.

Sadly, the fragrance turned out to be everything I feared it would be, although I did genuinely try to unpick it and to understand why some people continue to flock to this kind of stuff (no, honestly I did!). As per usual, the live chat generated an interesting discussion, with many people offering their own views on why these faux-citrusy, woody ambers show no sign of decreasing the angle of their man-spreading any time soon. There were also plenty of people who wanted it to be known that they love the original edt. To which I can only say: fair enough. Clearly, there is a market (and a fairly large one at that) for compositions of this ilk.
