For my latest episode of Love At First Scent, I decided to turn to one of the most ancient perfume materials: frankincense. For reasons I explain in the video, I’ve long turned to incense compositions to help me reach a more contemplative state of mind, so I thought a rundown of my favourite olibanum-based fragrances might be apt at this particular moment in time. As it turns out, the broadcast turned out to be one of my least meditative! Lots of people tuned it, which meant that the live chat became a tiny bit hectic at times. But never mind: we replaced tranquillity with fun. And we even had a proper Persolaise mess-up at one point. You can watch the video above or by clicking on this link: best incense perfumes 2020.

Here’s the list of perfumes featured in the video, with time-stamps:

Armani Prive Bois D’Encens (at the start of the video)
L’Artisan Parfumeur Passage D’Enfer (at the 17:00 minute mark)
Comme Des Garcons 2 Man (at the 25:00 minute mark)
Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil (at the 28:00 minute mark)
Tauer Perfumes Incense Extreme (at the 35:00 minute mark)
Amouage Jubilation XXV (at the 38:00 minute mark)
Serge Lutens L’Eau Froide (at the 41:30 minute mark)
Parle Moi De Parfum Papyrus Oud (at the 48:30 minute mark)
Chanel No. 22 (at the 50:00 minute mark)
Comme Des Garcons Incense Avignon (at the 55:00 minute mark)

Finally, I’d like to use this post as an opportunity to thank those of you who have recently used Ko-Fi to support my work. Your kindness means so much to me. I am deeply grateful for your generosity!
