When is a new perfume not a new perfume? Answer: quite frequently. Especially if it’s an amber. Oh, and look, here comes another one: Electimuss Pomona Vitalis, composed by Christian Provenzano. I reviewed it in a recent episode of Love At First Scent, which you can find at this link: Electimuss Pomona Vitalis review.
It is no doubt extremely difficult to bring something new to an over-populated genre, so perhaps, until genuine novelty is discovered, it’s better to offer nothing rather than a tune we’ve heard many times before. Granted, in this case, the tune has been played expertly – the vanillic, resinous amber note is connected to a convincing, tenacious plummy-boozy heart – but there is little to distinguish it from several other examples of the style. It may be lovely, but vitalis it ain’t.
