The latest from Parle Moi De Parfum – the lavender-based Haute Provence – has finally made it to these shores and I reviewed it on a recent episode of Love At First Scent. Click on this link to watch the broadcast: Parle Moi De Parfum Haute Provence review.

I can’t say this is my favourite effort from Parle Moi. I suppose I can understand the thinking behind attempting to make the lavender soar to those gorgeous Provençal skies by lifting it with aqueous, melony notes. But the execution of the idea leaves me unconvinced. If there’s one aspect of Provence that remains striking – even in this age of generic commercialism – it’s the untrammelled naturalness of the landscape. However, it’s the lack of naturalness that’s precisely what makes this new composition disappointing. To my nose, Michel Almairac has overplayed the water-fruit notes, diminishing the herbal impact of the lavender. Never mind: there are plenty of other delights to enjoy from the brand.
